The much-awaited scene between ‘Tindeng’ and ‘Lena’ gripped viewers online.
On Wednesday, June 26, the episode of popular ABS-CBN primetime series ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’ began with the climax scene of Tindeng (Charo Santos) finally heading back to her home in Quiapo after becoming a stay-in maid at the Caballero mansion.
But instead of being thrilled to be finally meeting her family after a long time, Roda’s (Joel Lamangan) revelation in a previous episode had gotten Tindeng furious.
She finally knew that the affair between Rigor (John Estrada) and Lena (Mercedes Cabral) that she saw before was actually true, despite the policeman’s repeated denial.
Tindeng’s temper reached boiling point when she knew that Lena now stays inside the same house, where her daughter, Marites (Cherry Pie Picache), also resides.
Upon reaching home, Tindeng immediately searched for the rooms, and found Lena sleeping on her bed. Due to her intense emotions, she dragged the woman and slapped her multiple times.
The scene reached the climax when Tindeng and Lena faced off with a knife and gun, respectively.
Although, no blood was shed as a pregnant Camille (Yukii Takahashi) acted as if she was feeling contractions to stop the two from further quarreling.
Before leaving, Tindeng told Camille to warn Rigor that she is not yet finished and will do anything in her power to protect her daughter Marites.
HIGH VIEWERSHIP
The scene, which was part of a special trailer released last month, was one of the highlights for this part of the story of ‘Batang Quiapo.’
Viewers, who were accustomed to seeing Charo Santos as a soft-spoken host of drama anthology program ‘Maalaala Mo Kaya,’ were delighted to see another aspect of her as an actress.
Many also applauded Mercedes Cabral for her effective portrayal of Lena, a character that is equally annoying and wicked.
With that, the June 26, 2024 episode of ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’ clinched the highest concurrent views since jt began airing in February 2023.
That episode, which was titled ‘Sugod’ garnered 502,566 live views on YouTube.
But, the aftermath of that confrontation on Thursday, June 27, furthered the viewership to 504,061.
ALL IS WELL
On Instagram, Charo Santos shared some behind the scene photos from the set of ‘Batang Quiapo.’
In her caption, Santos wrote: “Ang sabunutan nina Tindeng at Lena na nauwi sa tawanan at yakapan sa Batang Quiapo.”
Mercedes Cabral then commented to express her love towards the veteran actress, adding that it is “always an honor to be in a scene with you [Santos].”
Santos then returned the praise by describing Cabral as a “trooper” and an “amazing” actress.
