Former VP Leni Robredo ‘prefers’ to run for Naga mayor in 2025

This was confirmed by Robredo herself.

This was confirmed by Robredo herself.

Following earlier pronouncements regarding her future political plans, former Vice President Leni Robredo has spoken up to clear the air.

According to Robredo, who served as the country’s VP from 2016 to 2022, she is not going to run for Senator in the upcoming 2025 national elections.

She disclosed that she has disclosed her plan to not seek a Senate post in the upcoming polls to the Liberal Party (LP).

“Sinabi ko na ang preference ko ay tatakbo akong alkalde ng Naga, pero kagaya ng sinabi ko, parang hindi makatarungan na hindi ako maayos na nakapagpaalam (sa Liberal Party),” confirming the previous statements made by the party’s chairman Rep. Edcel Lagman.

However, she has not yet formally announced her bid for the mayoral position of Naga, which her late husband Sec. Jesse Robredo held from 1988 to 1998 and again from 2001 to 2010.

According to ‘Atty. Leni,’ she is still finalizing it as she continues to spearhead projects for her non-government organization or NGO Angat Buhay.

Prior to leaving the Office of the Vice President (OVP) by the end of her six-year term in June 2022, Leni Robredo also ran for President in the 2022 national elections — where she stood second by the end of the race.

The Liberal Party, meanwhile, in a statement said that they are wishing Robredo “well in her future endeavors.”
